Old South Church in Boston recently held a dinner to celebrate the willingness of its members of the church to volunteer and to introduce them to volunteer possibilities. Blue Mountain Project was one of those volunteer possibilities - Old South Church is a long-time supporter of the Blue Mountain Project.

The theme of the dinner was “Shaking the World Gently.”  Every time you volunteer you shake the world in a number of ways, most of them subtle and some invisible. Obviously, you help by your main volunteer task. BMP volunteers have done a great many good things over the past year. Just some are listed below:

  1. Providing medical care
  2. Helping a child learn to read or add
  3. Building a kitchen for an elderly couple
  4. Making a child feel important by listening to her
  5. Improving our clinic buildings

Some people work behind the scenes:

  1. Coming up with catchy slogans that invite others to visit our website and learn about us
  2. Hosting a dinner party to introduce friends to the people of Hagley Gap
  3. Editing a newsletter or brochure

All of you who volunteer inspire us who work at BMP. By your interest and your willingness to help, you remind us of why we work in Hagley Gap and you give us the courage to continue. Your efforts also spur on those who are thinking about volunteering.

On the behalf of Blue Mountain Project I thank all of our volunteers for their time, energy, good ideas, and hard work during the past year. You have made a difference for the people of Hagley Gap and for the BMP staff.  The aftereffects of your volunteering will last long into the future.

Thank you many times over – I cannot repeat that often enough.
