There are over 6,000,000 Jamaicans on the Planet. How many do you know on the Internet? Can you get one to answer the call? This unique campaign is meant to inspire a synergy among our people, and all you have to do is to help create a song. We also ask that you contribute $1 towards production of the final multimedia project - your name will be added to the credits so we hope you'll assist in getting the word out. You will notice that the project has already begun, so now it’s your turn to include yourself. Click here to contribute one dollar and let’s get started.
Review the original lyrics, submit your comments or add your version. The Lyrics campaign will last 30 days, and then begins the production phase where you may also lend your creative input towards the final multimedia arrangement. Upon completion, we will have made beautiful music together. Now, it’s your turn.
"Answer the call"
[chorus]
sweet sweet Jamaica..
aah.. wooh...oh woo wo woo
land of sunshine
aah.. wooh...oh woo wo woo
sweet sweet Jamaica..
land of wood and water
always on my mind
Sons and daughters
its up to us all
to rise with the sun
and stand tall.
When you are called out
for country and all
with bells or trumpet
answer the call.
[repeat chorus..]
Some before us
gave their all
blood and tears
sweat and salt.
So blow your lamps out
day breaks a new dawn
our journey's first step
lets start the walk.
[repeat chorus..]
You may stumble
fear not the fall
rise to your feet
and heed the call
All for our native land
home of my heart
I forever pledge
to do my part
[repeat chorus..]

Out of Many We are One, The idea is fantastic, as a people we are scattered, but rise to every occasion as Jamaicans where ever we are. I would love to see the many Jamaican poets throughout the world write a verse of the poem that would be OURS around the chorus Rise Jamaica Rise, Remember my Brothers and Sisters, Out of many we are one , united we are strong, as a small nation we have a message for the world, One love, my brothers and sisters,One Love pass it on, so our children will pass it on Out of many we are one. Lets create the longest poem for the Guinness Book of records. |

Invitation To Jamaica - JOE HIGGS This song, INVITATION TO JAMAICA was composed in 1972 by my father, The late, JOE HIGGS, for the JAMAICA TOURIST BOARD COMPETITION. He won the competition to receive the top prize of a trip to NEW YORK which would be his FIRST travel outside Jamaica. I had to submit THIS in HONOR and MEMORY or him... INVITATION TO JAMAICA If you're looking for somewhere to go, the invitation is Jamaica If you're looking for somewhere to go, the invitation is Jamaica One of nature's prettiest place to know, our lovely Island of Jamaica It's a land of sun when winter comes, and a variation of rums It's a land of sun when winter comes, and a variation of rums On any night You could go out and watch the limbo doing, in Jamaica Any, any night You could go out and watch the limbo doing, in Jamaica, yeah If you're looking for somewhere to go, tthe invitation is Jamaica If you're looking for somewhere to go, the invitation is Jamaica Every nationality you know, there is an offspring in Jamaica Out of many people, we are one lot, we're like one big melting pot Out of many people, we are one lot, we're like one big melting pot On any night You could go out and watch the limbo doing, in Jamaica Any, any night You could go out and watch the limbo doing, in Jamaica, yeah - JOE HIGGS |

... Hills and valleys sun and sea Jamaica we can see; Smiling people friendly too There's always something here to do No problem is the catch phrase here Our country that we hold so dear No other country yet so small Have mastered every beck and call Sons and daughters lets join hands We must preserve this pleasant land. -- Les Francis |

... The name Jamaica needs to be included in the chorus if we are to know who/what the song is about. As well, this would ensure that future listners would have a context. If not it could be a song about any land. |

One of the verses can be as follows If you don't know your origin, then your history you will shun and with that done, no future shall come cause your present was stifled from the start of your actions Join with the creator and see yourself grow understanding always that growth will be challenged by the wrongs offered as right and right tied up tight being prevented from being known as right push down compromise, rise, cnow shine you would have answered the call and invited your brethren to come answer his call too |

... Answer the call..... ...somewhere in the body of the song we need to ask these questions...... Leaders, lend me you ear Am I still a Jamaica when you do not allow me to vote outside of Jamaica? Am I still a Jamaican being a PNP under a labourite government? Will you shake my hand after the end of your elcection campaign period? ....note...let us do something that will cause a reform..and that reform is to cause all jamaicans to see themselves as one. We will achieve this If we can plant in each persons mind the idea that we are a superior race and we need each other to build that team. The fact of the matter is that the development process must start in our minds... the development of our environment is just a reflection of the quality of how we think as a nation. We need to choose great leaders for our people then watch pour people soar. Wanted..Great leaders for a great nation |

Answer the call We are still children Some are short and tall There will be a brighter tomorrow Just answer the call Yes as one we are strong Walking forward through rights and wrongs Taking each step keeping sane Afterall, no pain, no gain We are still children Some are short and tall There will be a brighter tomorrow Just answer the call I love this land of sun and rain I am proud of our athletes and music fame So many try to disgrace our name Still we rise above the shame We are still children Some are short and tall There will be a brighter tomorrow Just answer the call Some before us Gave their all A bag of rice and flour Was their downfall But it's all about giving from the heart Someone had to make a start We are still children Some are short and tall There will be a brighter tomorrow Just answer the call Sons and daughters its up to us all to rise with the sun and stand tall. Though you stumble fear not the fall rise to your feet and carry on We are still children Some are short and tall There will be a brighter tomorrow Just answer the call |
