Virtual Jamaica Pixel Project

E-mail Print PDF

Jamaicans across the globe seem to carry with them at all times, the same distinctive trademark and spirited badge of "Wi Likkle but wi Tallawah".  This unique source of energy has not only fueled us to be enterprising wherever we go, it has also been the source for much of our celebration away from home.

We have always shown incredible prowess in adapting to where ever we are, even as we continue to explore ways for keeping ourselves connected, engaged and informed. However, not always having the capacity to participate in affairs back home is often times cause for great frustration.

Now with new media, we have an opportunity to explore how a digital footprint can serve to inspire a more meaningful Jamaican inter-connectedness among all our people. The "Virtual Jamaica" pixel project aspires to do just that - to create a digital area map of Jamaica and use it as a vehicle for focusing our resourcefulness, our collective expertise and experience; and to serve as a reliable reference point for Jamaican networking, partnership and collaboration.

Each clickable pixel area on the map represents a valuable piece of online real estate, and an ideal advertising platform for participating individuals and organizations to:

  • own a virtual piece of Jamaica with customized pop-up window that includes an image, short advertorial message - and can link back to personal/corporate website or other website destination i.e. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube channel etc.  More to come.
  • leverage our unique advertorial network in connecting with millions of other Jamaicans around the globe
  • participate in the ongoing development throughout Jamaica

Please click on the menu tab "v-yard beta" or click here to view the project under development.

Furthermore, every Jamaican by now should be aware of the incredible power of the Internet - and that unlike any other advertising platform in history, the Internet is a phenomenon that will serve many generations to come.  It is also why giants like Face book, Twitter, and YouTube have become the most valuable real estate on the Internet, and are worth billions in advertising and marketing revenues.

This resource will be available soon, but we recommend that you reserve your virtual piece of Jamaica today.  Annual subscription for a virtual piece of Jamaica is: US$200 - Get A Virtual Piece Of Jamaica Today.  Or, Reserve via PayPal with only US $20 down.

The "Virtual Jamaica" pixel project is part of a fundraising initiative to further enhance our livecasting capabilities, and will enable ordinary Jamaicans to broadcast live on Jamlink.com.  Additionally, it will empower those on the ground working diligently to make the country a better and safer place, while encouraging greater community advocacy and increased collaboration among our people.

If you don't feel like taking part in the pixel project, please consider joining our live broadcast sessions.  It will help broaden the scope of community activism and a greater sense of fairness, decency and compassion toward all our fellow Jamaicans.  Remember, what we cannot accomplish on the ground is still achievable with the power of media and the tools of the Internet.

+2 #8 Delroy Thompson 2010-01-31 03:42 Great idea, virtual real estate offers great possibilities and can do a lot for direct marketing and networking. Just need a little more information to ensure that it is real and not a virtual ginalship!!! This should do well

Bless up

+2 #7 courtney 2010-01-30 01:32 Brilliant idea. I definitely thinking of contributing. Please tell me though, is this a registered not for profit org. or a private initiative, if it’s an NGO what are the systems in place for reporting to donors and the public? How are funds managed? What specific area of JA development will proceeds go towards? Who are the board members etc? Again I think this is an excellent idea and I would love to contribute the small contribution of US200 for such a big cause. Please let me have your response. Quote

+1 #5 Desmond Green 2010-01-29 05:28 This is truly a stroke of genius to have conceived and implemented this historic project Hansen. It just goes to confirm your observations that Jamaica is truly a cultural Global power and that we as Jamaicans see ourselves as World citizens.

Thanks for this truly magnificent opportunity to spread our wings across the world as we continue to celebrate our presence where ever we find ourselves.
